Without a Head – but with a Big Heart:
This is what the Umbraco community has been waiting for: Umbraco’s headless system was launched today, 2 December 2019. At 1 p.m., the Umbraco headquarters pressed the release button. The launch was embedded in this week’s umbraCoffee episode with Callum Whyte and Marcin Zajkowski, including Chief Unicorn Niels Hartvig as a special guest.
Why “headless”? Umbraco’s new headless system serves as a body, while the head of the solution – i.e. the front end – can be a system of the user’s choice. This new Umbraco headless solution not only comes with many useful features, but also with a new name: Umbraco Heartcore. Niels describes how the “Umbraco Headless” was renamed to “Umbraco Heartcore”:

Headless CMS mit Umbraco Heartcore
What is Heartcore up to? As a headless solution, Umbraco Heartcore is ideal for content delivery on a range of devices: be it websites, mobile apps, smart watches or speakers, shop screens, digital advertising, or other smart devices. The software as a service offering enables new content to be submitted on all connected systems – at the push of a button and on as many as needed.
Umbraco CMS is still the best choice for content management on classic websites. Umbraco Heartcore as headless CMS, on the other hand, is aimed at users who want to offer content to their audience quickly, easily and on several devices without sacrificing quality. The Umbraco backend does not lose any of its friendliness and flexibility and is easy and intuitive to use, even for inexperienced Umbraco users.

Umbraco Heartcore does not require any Umbraco knowledge because it works regardless of the programming language used in the project. REST APIs enable the communication between Heartcore as the body and the connected head. Umbraco Heartcore is ideal for omnichannel solutions. A change in the body of the CMS makes it visible on all channels at the same time – a feature that is extremely useful for product descriptions among other things. Heartcore also has an ace up the sleeve for chatbots: they can easily be fed with content. By the way, since Heartcore runs on Umbraco Cloud, users don't have to worry about upgrades. Updates are always made by the HQ team. In this way, you are always up-to-date and can focus on the most important thing: the quality of your content.
