Blockchain Week Berlin

When you attend your first hackathon and win 🤯

Our Head of Web3, Danish, shows how it's done! Danish traveled to Berlin in May for Blockchain Week. Networking, gaining inspiration and experiencing ETHBerlin Hackathon for the first time. That was the plan.

The Hackathon in Berlin is a cultural festival and a platform for hacktivism, where people come together to promote the decentralization of the web. With more than 800 visitors and several hundred participants, there is a lot going on there.

Danish and his team partner Jimjim Valkema delivered a great performance. In the “Freedom to Transact” category, the two developed “Inclusion Bribes” within 3 days.

The category “Freedom to Transact” was about ensuring that everyone can carry out transactions without restrictions. They were looking for projects to promote financial inclusion through cross-border money transfers without restrictions, peer-to-peer solutions, censorship-resistant applications and secure transactions.

With Inclusion Bribes, Danish and his teammate met these requirements and convinced the jury. There are various reasons why smart contracts are censored, e.g. by governments to protect their own interests. Inclusion Bribes circumvents this censorship with a proxy smart contract and offers a reward token as an incentive for the inclusion of blocks. The special feature: so-called sweeper/MEV (Maximum Extractable Value) bots, automated scripts that carry out transactions in the blockchain, are also addressed. “Fixing corrupt policy with more corruption” is the apt subtitle of “Inclusion Bribes”.

"It was my first hackathon and I had a lot of fun. I met great people and the submissions from the other teams were impressive. I also take a lot of inspiration for my work with IOTA from the experience in Berlin."

Danish Kiani,

Head of Web3
